I’ve done 4 since @lazygirlsgardenclub began this fun weekly event across all of her followers. Today I was too busy with doctor appointments, and pouring candles, but it looks like it’ll be a bit before our first frost. Hoping we can make one more Friday (at least) this year!!

Natural soy has a bit of an awkward phase — bumps, frosting, and all the ugly stuff. It’s totally normal (and honestly a sign you’re using the good, clean, natural stuff). With a little patience and a quick heat gun touch-up, she evens out beautifully and burns like a dream. ✨

Every candle has its glow-up moment — you’ve just gotta let her set. 🤍

What can I say? Extra is my love language 😆

He’ll scratch and cry at the bin until I take the temperature gun out. Not even fresh bones from @bluemaxmeats could distract him this afternoon 😂

@cattleandcutflowers — every time I cut a dahlia I think back to our wedding. Kelsey emailed me asking, “are dahlias okay?” and I remember replying, “that’s fine, just no roses.” I had no idea what a dahlia even was… and now look at me. 🥹 (our anniversary is 9/23/23)

@lazygirlsgardenclub — your Free Flower Friday idea got me back in the flowers this season, arranging for the first time all year. It cracked something open in me that I thought I’d put off until next year. Instead, I finally used those bouquet supplies I bought, and made my very first “market-style” bouquets. 💐 thank you for bringing me back into the beauty that flowers can bring!

$10 for ~35 bone-shaped treats.
Made with whole wheat flour, eggs, water, and peanut butter (no xylitol). Optional parsley for fresh breath! Stores up to a week in an airtight container.

$2/stem, minimum 10 stems.
Market-wrap length (12”+). Mostly dahlias, with possible additions like snapdragons, echinacea, rudbeckia, and scabiosa—available until first frost.

Today I finally joined in on something my friend @lazygirlsgardenclub recently started in her CO neighborhood — Free Flower Friday. She’s invited others to do the same in their own communities, leaving flowers out for neighbors to take home or pass along.

This was the first time all summer I’ve really wanted to do something with the flowers. Losing Myles took away so much of the joy I used to feel out here, and it’s been hard to find the drive. But today felt different. It felt good to share again, to see the beauty in what I’ve grown, and to let it bring happiness to someone else. I think the dogs also missed all the extra outside time.

Thank you, Kelly, for sparking this idea — and for reminding me what flowers can mean when they’re given with love. 🌼🩵

Just whipped up a batch of these peanut butter dog treats 🐾

Today was my first time trying homemade dog treats—and honestly, why didn’t I do this sooner?

We’ve been looking for ways to avoid store-bought milk-bone-like treats because Hank has a chicken allergy, and unfortunately, chicken (or chicken by-products) is in so many treats. So I figured I’d try making my own, with ingredients I actually recognize. 🙃

So far? HUGE hit. And I feel better knowing exactly what’s in them.

Crunchy Peanut Butter Dog Bones
Here’s the recipe ⬇️

Ingredients:
• 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for sensitive tummies)
• ½ cup natural peanut butter (make sure it has NO xylitol! I used @crazyrichardspb )
• 2 eggs
• ½ cup water (plus more if needed for texture)
• Optional: 1 tbsp dried parsley (for fresh breath)

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Mix flour, eggs, peanut butter, and parsley.
3. Slowly add water, 1 tbsp at a time, until the dough is firm but rollable—like sugar cookie dough.
4. Roll out to ¼-inch thick on a floured surface.
5. Cut out shapes with a cookie cutter (we used a classic bone).
6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange your treats.
7. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden.

For extra crunch, turn off the oven and leave them in for another hour to dry out.

I never got to share our baby shower invite.
I designed it myself—every detail chosen with love and care. The idea was a U-Cut shower, where every guest could walk through the garden and make their own bouquet. Blooms grown just for this celebration.

Every seed I started this spring and winter was for that day.
Every dahlia tuber I divided.
Every new raised bed I built.
Every bag of soil, every row of compost, every inch of our yard transformed—it was all for this.

The garden grew with Myles in my belly.
It expanded with the dream of gathering our people, of filling our home with laughter and flowers and life.

But no one ever saw this invite.
Just days after I finalized the guest list, Myles was gone.

And now, what was supposed to be a day of joy and flowers carries a different weight. People have moved on. They’re busy, out of town, making other plans. My family is no longer flying in. And while I understand, it still feels like a knife. A raw reminder of how deep this grief goes and how alone it can feel sometimes.

So today, I’m sharing this piece of what could’ve been. Not for pity, but to honor the little boy who made me a mom.
To honor the garden that still grew.
And to say that even in sorrow, beauty exists.
Even in heartbreak, he is still loved.

After loss, everything changes.

The “what ifs” after losing Myles aren’t just passing thoughts—they’ve reshaped how I live, how I prepare, and how I care for myself. I think about every little thing now. Not out of fear, but out of fierce, protective love.

Last time, we didn’t know what we didn’t know. We approached the two-week wait like it was just a pause, not realizing how much could happen in that time. This time, I’m already doing things differently. I gave up my old habits sooner. I cut out caffeine completely—not because I was told to, but because I feel it’s right. With Myles, I was told those white Monster energy drinks were fine, because they were under 200mg and sugar free. After losing him, I switched to coffee. Now, I’ve stepped away from that too.

I’m someone who lives with anxiety—always in my head, always anticipating. But I’ve learned how quickly cortisol, stress, and fear can take everything away. So now I guard my peace like a life depends on it. Because it might.

I used to feel guilty for resting, even when I was exhausted. During the first trimester with Myles, I hated how drained I felt—but I pushed through. This time, though I’m not pregnant yet, the hormones and medications have me in that same haze. And I’m honoring it. I’m letting myself rest. Letting go of the pressure to be productive. I’m choosing stillness. Choosing softness.

Because after loss, the body becomes sacred. A place where both grief and hope live side by side. A place that remembers. A place that heals.

We would’ve done anything to keep Myles. So this time, everything will be different. Every decision is an act of love—for the baby we lost and for the ones we still believe could be.

When you’ve walked through infertility and loss, you don’t get the luxury of being blissfully unaware. You carry the weight of awareness, of experience. You know that every tiny thing matters—what you eat, how you rest, what you say yes or no to.

Your body becomes holy ground. Not because it’s perfect, but because it holds life and memory and possibility.

And this time, I am the shelter. The guardian. The soft place where something new can grow.

First overstuffed vase of the summer! So excited to have long stems and the dahlias starting to show up more and more.

Myles Koplitz 👼🏻🩵

April 11th was always on our calendar.
Our 20-week ultrasound. The day we thought we’d be saying hello and see you soon. Instead, we said goodbye.

We lost our first baby, Myles, at 20 weeks and 1 day.

He made us parents. He made us stronger. And he showed us what it means to love someone so fully—even if only for a moment.

There are no words big enough for this kind of grief. Just love—so much love—and a space in our hearts that will always belong to him.

We miss you every day, Myles. You’ll always be ours. 🩵

Today wraps up the end of garden projects until it’s time to plant all the tubers!

Never grew daffodils, and was picky on what bulbs I bought to plant. OBSESSED with all of these!! I cannot wait to see the tulips blooming, but these will definitely hold me until then.

All the groffice graduates are doing good in the greenhouse! Even though this greenhouse is itty bitty, I love it ♥️

I visualized the perfect garden setup—saw it so clearly in my head, bought the raised beds, and felt pretty confident in my very official eyeball measurements. Fast forward to actually building them… and turns out, the space isn’t as big as I imagined. Oops…A little reconfiguring, and we made it work, in a different layout.

But when it comes to starting seeds? You better believe I’ve got a measuring tape in hand—because I may overestimate space, but I will NOT plant a seed deeper than 1/4 inch. Priorities. 🤣

We’ve got a microDrew brewing! Baby BOY Koplitz arriving this August! 🩵

I’ve always been very ‘spirit’-ual, and this moment confirmed it for me weeks before our blood test.

While snorkeling in Hawaii last month, on our very first day, we looked down and saw a blue baby foot mold bouncing along the ocean floor. Instantly, we knew—it felt like a sign from both our dads, a little confirmation from above.

Four weeks later, the blood test proved it—a boy! Thanks for the heads-up, Dad & Steve. Hope you’re enjoying time with our little guy before he makes his way to us in August! 🩵

@americastopdog Murphy needs more episodes. He also dreams to be one of the ‘underdogs’ someday.

Murphy now asks [whines and low barks] to watch one of his TV shows. America’s Top Dog is his absolute favorite. I think we’ve had to of watched season 1 on @hulu at least 15 times, easily.

Counting down the days to sunny mornings and garden strolls, checking on the sleepy bees nestled in the petals. ☀️🐝 Nothing beats the magic of flowers in full bloom! 🌸✨

Is it normal for this tiny bit of seed starting to take five hours?! Because WOW. Granted, I did take a break to eat and catch up on what Kelsey was up to on live/the subscriber channel.

Barkus and I are EXHAUSTED!

12 raised beds, and still plenty of room for Murphy and his ball! He lasts about 10 minutes nonstop until he needs a break. But the breaks last no more than a minute 🤦🏻‍♀️

I can’t wait to be outside all day with these doggos!

I love learning from new friends—thank you, @lazygirlsgardenclub, for saving me from those bummed-out, confused, or frustrated feelings this summer. (I’m also 99% sure one of your videos about direct sowing last year brought me so much joy while I was stuck on a knee scooter, dreaming of playing in the dirt after having to let most of my starts die because of “the fall”.)

What I learned through Kelly’s Garden Party:
You don’t have to follow the rules with zinnias, but you should probably check their sizing before completely winging it across multiple raised beds.

I have a few varieties in my lineup this year that won’t work for the vision I have for our raised beds—they just don’t grow as tall as I’d like. But no worries—there will be containers perfect for them elsewhere in the garden! Time to start planning my raised bed zinnias vs. yard zinnias, just like I do with my dahlias!

Little baby Barkus hasn’t been too rough on me since before our trip to Hawaii! Our second ultrasound keeps getting pushed back, but tomorrow is finally the day! Can’t wait to see that itty bitty heart thumping. And just a couple more weeks we’ll find out if Barkus is a girl or boy 🩷🩵

Almost 2 years old and has never taken a lesson out of Hank’s book 🐾

Saved some anemones from last year, and excited for all the new [to me] anemones and ranunculus we’ll be growing this year!

Our family’s growing this year…and it’s not another puppy!

Our last dinner in Maui was a family pizza party at the Hyatt, where the kiddos had a blast in the fun turf area—thanks to the FABULOUSLY DELICIOUS @papisohana!

On our first full day, I made a list of restaurants that struck a balance: options I’d enjoy (no seafood/fish for me), fresh fish dishes Drew would love, and kid-friendly spots for the five little ones in our group.

If you’re heading to Maui or Ka’anapali, here are our top recommendations. The ones in purple are absolute must-visits for any future trip:

• @papisohana – As a homemade pizza connoisseur, I can say they nailed it. Order your pizza early in the day to avoid sell-outs. Their homemade dough, sauces, and island-fresh ingredients are incredible.

• @kitchen_5315 – If we were locals, we’d be regulars at the bar. We ate here twice, and every meal was perfection. Bonus: Jesus behind the bar. Expect laughs, great stories, and amazing conversation—but don’t be too gullible! 😆

• @castawaycafemaui – It felt like a mini hidden gem. Drew said the fish and chips were some of the best he’s had, and the blackened chicken added to the veggie stir fry was the perfect recommendation from our waitress. 🤌🏼

For the kiddos:
• @cocodecklahaina – This spot features a little playroom, ideal for busy kiddos who can’t sit still for an entire meal. Located on Front St.—one of the few areas still thriving post-fire—you’ll enjoy water views and a stunning sunset from the outdoor seating.

• @mauibrewingco – We showed up with a crew of 12 just before happy hour ended (with live music, no less). Highly recommend their root beer—flavored with local honey and Hawaiian vanilla from the island. Super kid-friendly, though not many fish options if that’s what you’re after.

We couldn’t try them all, but this list will definitely be part of our future Maui bucket list. Thank you, Lahaina, Ka’anapali, and all of Maui, for treating us so well. 🫶🏼♥️☀️

Another amazing breakfast, a little wildlife spotting, and now off to Black Rock for some early morning snorkeling! I might be just a little obsessed with watching fishies and turtles under da sea. 🐠🐢🌊 Maui mornings just keep getting better and better!

Day 2 started bright and early with some adorable penguins in the hotel lobby 🐧, and when we came back from breakfast, a rainbow was waiting for us 🌈—surely a sign of another fabulous day in Maui!

Yesterday was unforgettable—we snorkeled right off the hotel beach and swam alongside a 3-4 foot turtle for quite a while. Definitely a moment we’ll carry with us forever. 🐢🤿 The best part? It only cost us some budget-friendly Amazon gear—no pricey tours or strict schedules needed.

Can’t wait to see what other memories today brings!! 🏝️☀️🐠🐟🐬🐳
